„Circular Young Challenge Empowering Youth to Drive Circular Food Practices”
The challenge is to reduce food waste from purchase to end use, with an emphasis on zero waste practices. Wasteful behaviour at universities, over-buying and inefficient food planning (e.g. rationing problems, poor transport conditions and inadequate storage and preservation of food), low awareness of social, economic and environmental risks are among the major causes of waste at universities.
In this challenge, participants have the opportunity to....:
implement their own ideas for a sustainable future in their own environment, and at the end of the programme, create a prototype to present at the final event
develop innovative circular solutions, including a business model
develop their skills and broaden their horizons with the help of industry partners and mentors
participate in workshops where they can gain insights into supply chain inefficiencies and waste reduction strategies through real industry case studies
The Program structure:
Between March and November 2025, teams of 2-5 people will have the opportunity to participate in a team competition between different European universities, each team focusing on solutions to reduce food waste in the circular food industry..
Your teams will receive entrepreneurship skills and product development training to create innovative, tangible food solutions.
During the year, you have to participate in ONLINE meetings where you have to present certain stages of the development, and at the end of the programme you have to present your prototype at a Final Closing Conference abroad, where the top 3 teams will also receive prizes. Important information is that the whole competition is in English.
