D4PACK
Support the transition of the Central Europe food industry Towards Next-Gen Packaging models
Aim of the project:
In line with the European Union's environmental, climate and food safety objectives, there is a need to introduce innovative packaging materials to food production that meet both sustainability and long-term food storage requirements, thereby significantly reducing waste.
However, traditional agri-food companies in Central Europe have limited resources and find it difficult to assess the impact of advanced packaging solutions on their production. In order to change this, the D4PACK project will create a technology transfer service that will help companies to better understand and assess the applicability of new sustainable packaging solutions in their operations. The consortium will develop and test an early guidance tool and a comprehensive decision-making framework during the project to support the widespread deployment of the technologies.
In the first year of the project, Campden BRI Hungary's tasks include mapping and editing the current R&D projects relevant to the project's objectives into a database, and thus identifying the technologies that can be implemented to best serve the needs of agri-food companies.
Later, a Hackathon will be organized by Campden BRI Hungary, with the aim of supporting the transfer of appropriate background knowledge, facilitating decision-making, and building partnerships among the players in the packaging industry.
